Appeal for Information


Dear Resident

 

Good evening, in the early hours of 5th November 2023 we received reports of 2 break ins, one in Gullane and one in Aberlady and 2 suspicious incidents in the Dirleton area.  These incidents occurred between 0200 hrs and 0400 hrs on 5th November.  

 

We would ask that you please keep your home safe after dark by 

 

  • Keeping windows and doors locked - always remove the key- always remove the key from the lock when there is glazing nearby
  • Take car keys upstairs and keep them secure
  • Secure sheds and garages with good quality locks
  • Check any outside security lighting is working
  • Don't leave tools/items lying around that could be used by a thief to gain entry through a window or door
  • Record and security mark valuable property
  • Don't advertise an empty house on social media
  •  

    Additional patrols are being carried out in the area and we are asking that local residents check any CCTV or Ring door bells they may have to see if anything of note is seen between the hours detailed above, should you find anything please call 101 quoting PS-20231105-0965.
