Theft of Quad, Rothienorman

Police Scotland are appealing for witnesses following the theft of a Kawasaki KLF 300 quad bike from a rural property near Rothienorman between 8.00 pm on Friday 26 April and 8.00 am on Saturday 27 April 2024.  The vehicle was later recovered on the B901 south of Rothienorman. Anyone with information can contact the Police on 101 or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference CR/0151237/24.

North East Crime Reduction Officer Constable Russell said ‘These types of vehicles are easy to steal as thieves can jump on and drive off when you are working on a farm or target them from workshops and barns.

Remote locations such as farms can offer rich pickings due to their rural location and isolation from other neighbours.

Consider investing in a quad specific security device such as the Sold Secure Diamond approved Suip Protector -

Alternatively, secure your quad or ATV inside buildings with good quality padlocks and chains.  Ground anchors combined with an alarm are also an excellent deterrent.

Never leave your keys in the ignition even if you only briefly leave your ATV unattended. Keep gates to yards closed as open gates can be an open invitation to thieves.

Always remove keys when not in use.

Mark or customise your property so it is easily identifiable.  This can deter thieves and also assist with recovery if stolen.

Also consider tracking devices for high value vehicles and machinery and keep a record of all vehicles with photographs and serial numbers.'
